Mission
The Kessels Museum makes the heritage of the Kessels musical instrument factory accessible to a wide audience by focusing on stories, music and the maker aspect.
The Kessels Museum manages the heritage of Kessels Musical Instrument Factory. People can experience the stories and the music that goes with them. With an appealing permanent exhibition and stimulating (musical) activities, this heritage is made accessible to a wide audience; from specialists and music connoisseurs to families with children and school groups. Central is the maker aspect. From making and restoring musical instruments to making and experiencing music.
Vision
The Kessels Museum is committed to making the enriching and connecting power of music - in the spirit of Mathieu Kessels - accessible to a wide audience in Tilburg, music-making city.
Music enriches and connects. Mathieu Kessels knew this almost 150 years ago. In 1886, his music publishing house and musical instrument shop gave rise to the Royal Dutch Musical Instrument Factory M.J.H. Kessels in Tilburg. His vision for production, which was in line with the industrial innovations of the time, resulted in affordable musical instruments. In doing so, he made music (and playing it) accessible to a wide audience.
Kessels Museum is committed to making the enriching and unifying power of music accessible and tangible to a wide audience, in a way that is fitting for Tilburg, the city of music-makers.
