Mission

The Kessels Museum makes the heritage of the Kessels musical instrument factory accessible to a wide audience by focusing on stories, music and the maker aspect.

The Kessels Museum manages the heritage of Kessels Musical Instrument Factory. People can experience the stories and the music that goes with them. With an appealing permanent exhibition and stimulating (musical) activities, this heritage is made accessible to a wide audience; from specialists and music connoisseurs to families with children and school groups. Central is the maker aspect. From making and restoring musical instruments to making and experiencing music.

Vision

The Kessels Museum is committed to making the enriching and connecting power of music - in the spirit of Mathieu Kessels - accessible to a wide audience in Tilburg, music-making city.

Music enriches and connects. Mathieu Kessels knew this almost 150 years ago. From his music publishing and musical instrument business, the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Fabriek van Muziekinstrumenten M.J.H. Kessels in Tilburg came into being in 1886. His vision of production, in line with the industrial innovations of the time, ensured affordable musical instruments. In doing so, he made music (practice) accessible to a wide audience.
Kessels Museum is committed to making the enriching and connecting power of music accessible and experienceable for a wide audience, in a way that suits Tilburg, city of music.
