On 26 May, the Kessels Museum welcomes Belgian guitarist Maya Descheemaeker. This virtuoso talent will play her exam repertoire, which consists of only British music: from John Dowland to a guitar rendition of The Beatles' Michelle. Will you be at this special opportunity to attend a wonderfully intimate concert?
Maya studies at Fontys Academy of the Arts and is in the final year of her master's degree. This year she has already played at NPO Klassiek and the Dutch Guitar Foundation, among others, and won second prize at the Antwerp Guitar Festival. Whether it is conveying the colour and warmth of Spanish music, the melancholic character of Latin American music or the pure pleasure that comes from performing jazz standards: Maya uses her music to communicate on a deeper level.
