Zvi Maschkowski: Cello
Cellist Zvi Maschkowski (born 1946 in Rehovot, Israel) trained as a cellist at the Music Academy, Tel Aviv and the Music Academy, Jerusalem. He took master classes with Leonard Rose, Pablo Casals and Alexander Schneider.
From 1969-1970, he was a regular cellist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1974, the Daniël String Quartet was founded and has performed in and outside the Netherlands and in the US. A number of CDs of the quartet have been released. From 1975-1992, he was cellist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1989, he has taught chamber music at Rotterdam Conservatoire. He also fulfils guest lectureships at: Western Washington University, South Dakota University, Sarah Lawrence College; he was honorary lecturer at the cello festival (1994) at Wichita State University Kansas and lecturer at the Orlando Festival in Rolduc/Kerkrade. He regularly performs as a guest lecturer at the Jerusalem Music Center. From 1989 to 2008, he was involved in the organisation and performance of the annual Zeister Muziekdagen in Zeist. From 2005 to 2009, Zvi Maschkowski was part of the Israel String Quartet. With this quartet, he regularly toured Israel and Europe. In recent years, Zvi has mainly worked on his video recordings, six cello suites and other pieces of which can now be found on you-tube.
