Do you know the music history of Kessels in Tilburg?

In Tilburg, Kessels is an established name. The story of Marietje Kessels is widely known, but the history her father Mathieu Kessels wrote in our city is less well known. In cooperation with restaurant de Harmonie, we will organise the arrangement; 'The story of Kessels' on the 1st Thursday of the month from November 2024 to March 2025.

Mathieu Kessels is the founder of the musical instrument factory, which stood where Spoorpark is now. But without Jos Kessels, his older brother, he would never have ended up here. The basis was in Heerlen where they were both born, yet they moved to Tilburg where they further developed their musicality. They opened a restoration workshop here, which would later become the successful factory. In addition, the brothers composed and conducted, organising concerts, competitions and judging. They also printed and published pieces of music. All this under the name Kessels!
